Chapter Spotlight - Cascade Range Chapter board member Brandon Daniel created a QR code scanning solution to help streamline operations at the chapter's Northwest Tech Days this summer. Using free software and a QR reading app, the chapter printed a QR code on each attendee's name badge. Chapter volunteers scanned the code as an attendee entered one of three concurrent training sessions during the two-day event (there were 12 sessions in total). The scanned data was easily converted into attendance reports which the chapter submitted to headquarters.
"It is pretty cool and it worked very well," said Randy Love, region 3 representative. "It will be less labor intensive than our previous manual processes. And it is FREE!"
The Cascade Range Chapter of the Society of Cable Telecommunication Engineers provides cost-effective and quality technical training, certification testing opportunities and vendor interaction to local technical employees engaged in the design, construction, installation, monitoring and maintenance of modern telecommunications facilities.
Most members of the Cascade Range Chapter are located in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Each year we conduct seminars on a variety of subjects of interest to telecommunications technicians and engineers. Our members are primarily from the cable telecommunications operators and related vendors in the area -- but anyone with an interest is invited to attend.
